"Neither flat paintings nor three-dimensional sculpture gave me enough space to express emotions which are the most important thing in art. Puppets, on the other hand, turned out to be the ideal medium to reveal feelings and all sorts of human passion. Another key factor is the possibility to add soul to an object, achieved by a semblance of life which is expressed in a puppet's glance, wince of gesture. Making a puppet is a process which combines soul and matter. That is how an object comes to gain the true expression.
Puppets help me to step beyond my time and the surrounding reality, as their life originates from "artistic hallucinations". Their incredible inner force is brought on by the fact that they are created in man's image and they are a perfect amalgam of the tangible and the unfathomable. They can be funny or creepy, they can have their own expressions, personality and they arouse extreme emotions - this is their phenomenon and this is what marvels me."
