Who is Don Juan nowadays? The famous libertine, beautiful and treacherous youth, who is one of the emblems of our culture. Can we find in his story, full of daring love adventures, betrayals, duels and the challenges of his fate, anything more than a gripping story with a predictable end? Or maybe it is today – when values go rotten and break into pieces, replaced by new rules – that the mystery of Don Juan concerns us especially, by asking us what we believe in, what we fear and how far lay the boundaries of our seemingly unlimited freedom.
In the performance Don Juan is a puppet. Is this small, human-like creature, able to make himself and us reflect on these big issues? And who pulls the strings, which animate him?
